Awareness Month

June is for Lipoedema Awareness

Every June sees the board of Lipoedema Australia campaign heavily for lipoedema awareness in the health and wider communities. From social media, community activities, awareness lunches, forums and even having landmarks lit up in purple, you’ll see us working hard to spread the word about lipoedema.

Please help us by sharing as much as you can, engaging within your own networks about lipoedema, asking your medical centre if they would be open to having a presentation about lipoedema, doing some fundraising… anything that helps to bring lipoedema into the spotlight!

Lipoedema Awareness Month 2026

Watch our Wrap Up Video!

It’s only when we take a look back that we see how much we achieved during Awareness Month 2026.

Across Australia, 155 landmarks lit up in recognition of Lipoedema Awareness, in an extraordinary show of visibility and support that continues to grow each year. Thank you to all the councils, government departments and corporations that have supported us with illuminating landmarks purple in support of lipoedema.

Our board members met with Members of Parliament in multiple states and territories, and engaged directly with GPs completing professional development at the Women’s and Children’s Health Updates in Brisbane and Adelaide. We attended the Lymphoedema Association Australia (LAA) public information day in Melbourne as part of our continued sector engagement.

After exhibiting at Healthed events for the past 18 months, Lipoedema Australia was offered an opportunity to be included on the lecture program, with Dr Vani Prasad collaborating with us to present. This marks a significant milestone in advancing clinical awareness at a national level.

We also launched our national practitioner survey, an important step in strengthening our understanding of current knowledge gaps and improving future education efforts. The survey remains open, and we encourage practitioners and health professionals to complete it.

Awareness Month finished with a new beginning - Lipoedema Australia now has Professional Membership available, which represents a huge step towards a better future for Australian lipoedema patients.

Throughout June, local events were held across the country to raise awareness and vital funds. Altogether, our community raised $4607.65. While we were short of our $11,000 goal, every contribution directly supports our ability to continue attending GP education events, and travelling to meet MPs to advocate for change, support and recognition.

Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, hosted events, and helped amplify awareness, including those who captured photos of landmarks and shared them with us. Your support is helping us build momentum toward improved outcomes for Australians living with lipoedema.

Help Spread Awareness

We’ve created a variety of posters for you to download and print for your awareness month event, or to help raise awareness in your community - in June, and of course, all year round.

Click on the image of the poster(s) you’d like to use, and they will open
in a new tab/screen ready for you to download.

We ask that you get these posters printed professionally. Kmart, Big W and Officeworks are quick, affordable options.
Files are sized so that you can print either A3 or A4, depending on your needs & budget.
Posters will look best on 210gsm (or similar weight) silk or gloss paper to make the images and photos really POP!
