Awareness Month

June is for Lipoedema Awareness

Every June sees the board of Lipoedema Australia campaign heavily for lipoedema awareness in the health and wider communities. From social media, community activities, awareness lunches, forums and even having landmarks lit up in purple, you’ll see us working hard to spread the word about lipoedema.

Please help us by sharing as much as you can, engaging within your own networks about lipoedema, asking your medical centre if they would be open to having a presentation about lipoedema, doing some fundraising… anything that helps to bring lipoedema into the spotlight!

Lippy Leg Challenge

Join the Lipoedema Australia Lippy Leg Challenge and mark off each day you rest your legs on our Lippy Legs Calendar.

Why?
To get your lymphatic system flowing and reduce the heaviness in your legs.

How?
Lay on your back on the floor or your bed. Gently put your legs up against the wall. Rest your lippy legs for 11 minutes.

When?
You can rest your legs anytime of the day, it just takes 11 minutes of relaxing to feel the benefit. Tick off the calendar each day that you rest your legs in June.

Light up for Lipoedema Awareness

This June, as part of our Lipoedema Awareness Month celebrations, we’re proud to take our Light Up for Lipoedema campaign national, shining a spotlight - literally - on this often misunderstood condition. Landmarks across the country, from bustling cities to small regional towns, will be lighting up in purple (or purple & pink) to remind us that no matter where we live, support is available and we are united as a community.

Each illuminated site serves as a beacon of hope, strength, and solidarity, reminding those affected by lipoedema that they are not alone. With increased visibility comes increased awareness, and with that, better understanding, earlier diagnosis, and improved outcomes. We encourage everyone to get involved—snap a selfie with your local landmark lit up and share it to socials using our campaign hashtags to help spread the word far and wide.
